SALEM, Va. — App State Wrestling, helped by ranked victories and timely falls, opened the 2025-26 season by having seven team members earn top-six finishes at the Southeast Open on Sunday.
Jeremiah Price placed second in the Open Division at 157 pounds, starting 4-0 before dropping an 8-1 decision to No. 22 Charlie Millard from Minnesota in the final, while the Mountaineers picked up ranked wins from
Kaden Keiser, redshirt freshman
Jarvis Little and true freshman
Musa Tamaradze.
True freshman
Colt Campbell's runner-up finish at 174 pounds was the highlight in the Freshman/Sophomore Division. Campbell went 3-0 before losing 8-5 in overtime via a Sudden Victory takedown in the final.
Keiser took third at 149 pounds in the Open Division, posting a 4-1 record that included a 7-1 overtime victory against No. 27 Drew Roberts from Minnesota in a quarterfinal showdown and a first-period pin of Minnesota's Jager Eisch in the third-place match. Keiser also had wins against wrestlers from North Carolina and West Virginia before dropping an 8-2 semifinal decision against No. 10 Koy Buesgens from NC State.

Tomas Brooker took fourth place at 184 pounds by winning a pair of major decisions before he dropped a pair of decisions to No. 16 James Conway from Franklin & Marshall and No. 14 Ian Bush from West Virginia.
Tamaradze and Little won a combined six matches at 133 pounds. Tamaradze went 4-0 after he had a late takedown but gave up a go-ahead escape to No. 8 Braxton Brown, a three-time NCAA qualifier from Maryland, in their opening match.
Tamaradze took fifth by winning his last two matches via first-period pins of No. 13 Ethan Oakley, a three-time NCAA qualifier in his second year at UNC, and George Mason's Mason Kernan.
Little's 2-2 mark included a 7-3 decision against No. 29 Chris Cannon, a Minnesota newcomer who was a 2021 and 2022 All-American at Northwestern.

Kai O'Dell (157 pounds) and true freshman
Caleb Cady (sixth place at 165 pounds in the Freshman/Sophomore Division) all went 4-2. Conetta's four straight wins after a loss to No. 10 Andrew Sparks included a Sudden Victory takedown of Maryland's John Martin Best for a 5-2 overtime decision.
App State's 2025-26 season is presented by Hungry Howie's and Penn Station. The Mountaineers resume action next weekend in Bethlehem, Pa., with Journeymen's WrangleMania duals against Navy and Hofstra on Saturday, then the Journeymen Collegiate Classic tournament on Sunday.
