Dominic De Freitas has been named the Sun Belt Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week after he hit two field goals from 45-plus yards in the Mountaineers' 27-23 home win against Oregon State.
It was App State's first-ever home victory against a team from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 or SEC.
De Freitas, a freshman, opened the scoring with a season-long field goal from 49 yards and added a 45-yard field goal late in the third quarter to give the Mountaineers a 27-21 lead.
De Freitas is 6-for-8 on field goals this season with three makes from at least 45 yards.
