BOONE, N.C. - The App State men's and women's cross country teams will host the Firetower Project Run on Friday at the Don Kennedy Trails at State Farm. The men's 8K is slated for 5:40 p.m. with the women's 6K to follow at 6:40 p.m.
Joining the Mountaineers in the field of competition will be Augusta, College of Charleston, Erskine, King, Mars Hill, Marshall, Milligan, Radford, Wake Forest, and Warren Wilson.
Last Time Out
The Mountaineers opened the 2024 campaign with the Covered Bridge Open, where the men's team clinched first with a score of 18 points in the men's 6K and the women placed second with 51 points in the women's 5K.
Junior
Ethan Lipham set pace for the Mountaineers in the men's 6K, clocking a time of 18:14.72 to clinch first. Lipham also garnered the season's first Sun Belt Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor for his efforts on the course. Following Lipham, was senior

Chase Burrell, who placed second (18:19.59) and third (18:35.58) overall. In his collegiate debut, freshman
Aaron Kidd rounded out the top-five finishers with a time of 18:45.50.
Senior
Emma Russum led the Black and Gold in the women's race, stopping the clock at 17:59.51 to place fifth overall. In her collegiate debut, freshman
Breanna Budzinski placed eighth (18:13.24), with sophomore
Rhys Ammon following close behind to take ninth (18:13.65).
