POSTGAME NOTES: Marshall 52, App State 37
Â
After its previous game vs. Liberty was canceled due to Hurricane Helene, App State played for the first time in 16 days amid classes being canceled and the Boone and High Country communities responding to the devastating impacts of the hurricane.
Â
App State outgained Marshall in total yards, 473-365, and in first downs, 32-21. But the Mountaineers committed 15 penalties for 158 yards and lost the turnover battle, 2-0. The penalties and penalty yards were both third-most in a single game in school history.

The Mountaineers' opponent scored first for the fourth straight game.
Â
App State is 0-2 in Sun Belt play for the first time since 2014, its first year in the league. That season, the Mountaineers went on to win their final six league games.
