Mountaineers Show Improvement in Final Exhibition Game against Wake Forest

BOONE, N.C. – The App State Mountaineers concluded its preseason slate by scrimmaging with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Sunday.

Both teams competed in a full match that included a five-minute overtime period before the two teams capped off action with two shootout periods. App State competed hard throughout the competition and showed improvement in several aspects on the field.

App State utilized several different lineups throughout the game, as 18 players saw game action against Wake. The Mountaineers trotted out a different starting lineup than Friday's game, but most of the same players who started on Friday played significant minutes on Sunday.

Fifth-year goalkeeper Addie Clark was in the cage for the Mountaineers the entire match, including the overtime period and shootouts.

Coach's thoughts
"I thought our effort was really good today," coach Emily Dinsmore said. "We were fighting for one another and recovering well and playing together. That to me was an improvement from Friday's game. We just need to keep building on that so we're ready for Towson on Friday."
