SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference has released the seeds for the 2022 SoCon Wrestling Championship, and regular-season champion App State has a top-two seed at the first seven weight classes.
The championship is set to take place Saturday, March 5, at the Holmes Convocation Center in Boone. Eight squads will compete for the 2022 SoCon title, with 15 individual NCAA allocations available for automatic bids to the NCAA Championships. Bellarmine will not compete as it completes its transition to Division I Wrestling.
App State's top seeds are
Jonathan Millner (149 pounds) and
Thomas Flitz (174).
Cody Bond (seeded No. 2 at 157 pounds) and The Citadel's Dazjon Casto, who has a higher national ranking in the same weight class, both went unbeaten in SoCon duals this season, as the Mountaineers and Bulldogs were unable to reschedule a postponed dual. App State's other No. 2 seeds are
Caleb Smith (125),
Codi Russell (133),
Heath Gonyer (141) and
Will Formato (165).
Michael Burchell is seeded third in the heavyweight division,
