BOONE, N.C. – App State men's basketball prepares for its second home game of the season against N.C. Central on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday's contest will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can be listened to through APPVISION and the Varsity Network.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS (1-0)

App State scored the most points in school history on Monday in a 142-74 victory over Warren Wilson. The Mountaineers' 142 points were the second highest of any team on opening night.

The Mountaineers went 39-43 from the free throw line in their season opener, which is the most made by any team in a game so far this season and ties the highest mark from any regulation game last season. Their make-total and percentage of 90.7 were the second-highest marks in school history.

App State's 30 assists were the third-highest total of any Division I team this season and the team had 11 blocks, the second-most of any squad this season.

Christopher Mantis led the offense with a career-high 22 points, including 16 during App State's 41-12 run in the first half.

The newcomers combined for 62 points and 30 rebounds, led by Tamell Pearson, Tyree Boykin, Justin Abson and Dibaji Walker.

N.C. Central fell to No. 18 Virginia, 73-61.

Justin Wright and Eric Boone combined for almost two-thirds of N.C. Central's points, scoring 20 and 18, respectively. Seven-footer Brendan Medley-Bacon chipped in six points and six rebounds in his Eagle debut.

Wright was named first-team All-MAC last season after averaging 13.7 points per game and averaging just under 50% from the floor.

Last season, the Eagles finished 16-15 while posting a record of 8-5 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
