Mountaineers Visit ETSU On Wednesday Night

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- App State men's basketball is set for its second road game of the season at ETSU on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with radio and live stats availability to follow along.

THE SERIES
  • This will be the 128th meeting between the two schools in a series that ETSU leads 80-47.
  • App State won the matchup last year, defeating the Buccaneers 69-67 at home (11/12/21). Donovan Gregory had 12 points and seven rebounds in that game, following Adrian Delph who had 19 and seven.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS (4-2)
  • App State is coming off a victory on Sunday that concluded a weekend tournament in Boone, N.C. where the Mountaineers finished 1-2. They defeated Southeastern Louisiana 83-74 after two losses by less than five points against Campbell (58-63) and Kennesaw State (67-71).
  • The Mountaineers are undefeated on the road so far (1-0) after a 61-60 victory over Louisville on Nov. 15.
  • Justin Abson has the second most blocks of anyone in the country, and first among freshmen with 18 after blocking seven shots in his last two games. He has had at least one block in his first six collegiate games and is averaging three per game.
  • Terence Harcum ranks third in the nation in free throw percentage and first in the Sun Belt with a perfect 15-15 clip from the foul line (1.000). Villanova's Brandon Slater is 22-22 and LSU's Adam Miller has gone 16-16.
SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS (3-2)
  • ETSU has gotten off to a 3-2 start (2-0 at home) after beginning its season with a 88-66 win at home over Emory & Henry. After that, the Buccaneers competed in the Asheville Championship where they defeated Elon 77-64 and fell to Sun Belt opponent Louisiana 77-81. They won their last home game against AR-Little Rock 84-76 on Nov. 17 before falling on the road to Tennessee Tech on Sunday (62-69).
  • Jordan King leads the Buccaneers in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game, to go along with five rebounds per game and 16 total assists.
  • Deanthony Tipler has added 13 points per game off the bench while leading the team in three-point percentage (11-28, 39%).
  • Josh Taylor comes from Georgia and currently leads the team in rebounds with 8.4 per game.
