OXFORD, Ohio - App State field hockey saw its four-game win streak snapped on Friday with a 5-1 loss at Miami.

The Mountaineers (7-6, 4-5 MAC) surrendered five goals as Miami remained perfect in Mid-American Conference play at 7-0 on the year.

App State trailed the RedHawks 2-0 entering the break and would cut a third-quarter deficit to two, 3-1, off a lone goal from senior Meghan Smart, her team leading 12th of the season.

Miami outshot App State 28-7 and also earned a total of 15 corners. Addie Clark was credited with a season-high 11 saves Friday.

The Black and Gold will regroup to battle the RedHawks in game two of the road series Saturday. Saturday's first touch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Miami Field Hockey Complex in Oxford, Ohio.
