BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State's
Luke Drumheller and
Kaleb Bowman have been named to the NCCSIA University Division All-State Baseball Teams.
An infielder, Drumheller was the lone freshman on the 13-player first team. Bowman made the second team as a relief pitcher.
Drumheller, who was recently named to the 2019 Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-American Team, hit .337 with a team-leading 37 RBIs and 15 doubles in his first college season. He tied an NCAA record while breaking school and league records against Furman with a five-double game that was voted the national Performance of the Week by the Golden Spikes Award.
Bowman finished his senior season as the official Sun Belt Conference ERA champion. He led the league with a 3.05 ERA over 62.0 innings (a player must pitch at least one inning per team game to be eligible), and those innings came in 27 appearances out of the bullpen. He had a 6-2 record with four saves to finish his two-year career in Boone with an 8-2 mark.
Nominations were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association members. A total of 26 student-athletes from nine different North Carolina schools were named to the first and second teams.
