BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State (26-10, 11-3 SBC) is set to host UNC Greensboro (24-12) in a doubleheader on Wednesday.
The Mountaineers are 15-7 in non-conference games this season and 8-2 at home. The only losses at home this season, came to Gardner-Webb in a doubleheader and South Alabama.
APP STATE OFFENSE
The Mountaineers split a doubleheader with Texas State on Saturday after game one of the series was moved due to weather and game three was canceled. The game two win was the first win against the Bobcats in App State history.
With a .339 batting average and 42 hits on the season, Keri White heads up the Mountaineers from the leadoff spot. With 124 at bats and only eight strikeouts, White hoists a .366 on-base percentage.
Allison Durrence follows with a .672 slugging percentage and a team-high nine home runs this year, good for fourth in the Sun Belt Conference. Jenny Dodd leads the Sun Belt with 35 walks and is second in the nation averaging one walk per game.
The App State bats currently sit at a solid .252 batting average with timely hitting playing the biggest role in the offense.
APP STATE DEFENSE
On defense, the Mountaineers are currently third in the Sun Belt with a .972 fielding percentage and 30 errors and second in team pitching with a 2.31 ERA.
Individually, Kenzie Longanecker is the ace for App State with a 1.90 ERA, 81 strikeouts and a 14-2 record this season. Good for second in the Sun Belt, Longanecker is now second in App State history for wins in a single season and career with 31 and fourth all-time for most strikeouts in a career with 295.
Sydney Holland is now third in the Sun Belt with a 2.08 ERA and 43 strikeouts on the season. Holland improved her record on Saturday to 9-5 this season.

The last time the Mountaineers faced the Spartans was a doubleheader in 2018. App State dropped both games 3-4 in the bottom half of the last inning in each game.
In game one, the Apps put up seven hits and held the Spartans to one run through six innings. In the bottom of the seventh, UNCG managed two walks and two hits including a walk-off single to take the first game.
Game two went eight innings as the Mountaineers scored the tying run in the seventh and held the Spartans to no hits to send the game long. When App State could get nothing going in the top of the eighth, a wild pitch would bring home the winning run for the Spartans.
App State is 23-25 all time against UNC Greensboro in their 48 total meetings.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
The Spartans are coming off a sweep of conference opponent Furman this past weekend. It is part of a current seven-game winning streak UNCG has put together. The Spartans are 12-3 in their last 15 games.
In the SoCon, UNCG is second in pitching with a 2.96 ERA and third in team batting with a .282 batting average. Marisa Sholtes leads the team with a .345 batting average and eight home runs on the season. Makenna Matthijs follows close behind with a .327 batting average and team-high 35 hits.
In the circle, Stephanie Bryden is 17-6 with a 2.23 ERA and 164 strikeouts, good for 16th in the nation. Teammate, Kylie Bouplon has a 6-4 record with a 2.29 ERA and 59 strikeouts.
Behind the two is a fourth ranked SoCon defense with a .956 fielding percentage and 43 errors.
