App State Travels to Take on ULM

MONROE, LA. – Appalachian State (14-7, 3-0 SBC) continues into Sun Belt play at ULM this weekend with a three-game series beginning on Friday, Mar. 15. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. on Friday. Game two will be on Saturday, Mar. 16 at 3 p.m. The series finale will be at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 17.

APP STATE OFFENSE

The Apps split their midweek doubleheader on Wednesday against Gardner-Webb taking the first game and dropping the second. Junior Keri White continues to lead the Mountaineer offense, batting .370. As a team the Apps rank seventh in the Sun Belt for overall batting average, batting .255. Senior Jenny Dodd leads the Sun Belt for walks with 19, for a team-high on-base percentage of .466. Alison Durrence is tied for seventh in the league with a team-high five home runs.

APP STATE DEFENSE
 
The Mountaineers rank second in the Sun Belt with a .977 fielding percentage as well as maintaining the least amount of errors (fourteen). Sydney Holland continues to hold the third lowest ERA in the league with a .188 ERA in ten appearances. Kenzie Longanecker brings a seventh ranked ERA in the Sun Belt of .277 with her a 8-0 record in the circle.

A LOOK BACK AT 2018
 
App State took the series 2-1 against the Warhawks last season as the bats came to life on both sides. The Apps took the early lead and continued to add pressure in the first game, winning 7-3. Despite only going 5 innings and losing 12-4 in the second game of the doubleheader Saturday, App State bounced back on Sunday. Both teams showed up ready to hit with a total of four home runs in the game. The Mountaineers rallied with two home runs of their own by Alisha Josey and Baylee Morton in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game. App State went on to win 9-8 in eight innings.

Both teams lead with their bats, with 19 total hits in games one and two and 22 hits in game three. Defensively, neither team was flawless, with 12 total errors in the series.
 
SCOUTING THE WARHAWKS

ULM holds a 4-19, 1-2 SBC record going into the weekend. The Mountaineers will be the first opponents for the Warhawks at home this season. In 12 games against the Warhawks in series history, App State is 3-9.

Sydney McKay is ranked fourth in the Sun Belt in batting average with a team high .437 average and tied for third in the Sun Belt in hits with 31.

Murphy Williams has spent the most time in the circle for the Warhawks. In 34.2 innings pitched, she maintains a 4.85 ERA. Adrianna Chavarria with a 3.74 ERA and Tori Fugatt with a 3.50 ERA are probable starters this weekend as well.
