The loss snaps App State's 13-game winning streak that was the third-longest active streak in the country behind Clemson (23) and Ohio State (14). It was the Mountaineers' first loss since Oct. 25 at Georgia Southern last year. The team went 370 days between losses.

This was App State's first home loss since Sept. 23, 2017, a 20-19 defeat to Wake Forest. It snapped a 14-game home winning streak that entered the week tied for seventh-best in the FBS.

This was App State's first home loss against a league opponent since Nov. 5, 2015, a 40-27 defeat to Arkansas State. It snapped the Mountaineers' 16-game home winning streak versus Sun Belt teams.

Despite playing in conditions with wind gusts exceeding 40 mph,
Zac Thomas threw for a season-high 271 yards. It's the third-highest total of his career, behind 295 yards at Charlotte and 282 yards against Georgia State last season.

Zac Thomas had a game with three touchdown passes and no interceptions for the second time this season (also Charlotte) and the fourth time in his career.
Zac Thomas attempted a career-high 51 passes and tied his career high of 25 completions.

Malik Williams set career highs in catches (eight) and receiving yards (89) while catching a second-quarter touchdown that pulled the Mountaineers within three right before halftime. His previous highs were six catches (three times) and 78 yards (at North Carolina earlier this season).

Corey Sutton's two touchdown catches tied his career high. He finished with six catches for 67 yards, and both of his scores came during a fourth-quarter rally with less than 10 minutes remaining.

Corey Sutton had two receiving touchdowns in a game for the first time this season after doing it three times last season. With 13 career touchdown catches, he's now tied for ninth place in school history.

Josh Thomas played his 50th career game. He also forced a punt with one pass breakup and opened the second half with a physical tackle for a short gain.

App State's defense didn't allow Georgia Southern to pick up a first down on its final four drives. There were three punts after three-and-outs and one fourth-down stop as Georgia Southern's 15 plays in the fourth quarter netted 22 yards.
