LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - App State women's soccer fell to Little Rock, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Coleman Sports Complex.
App State falls to 4-8-2 (1-4-1 SBC) while Little Rock improves to 5-5-6 and 2-1-4 in league play.
The Mountaineers came out on the attack with a pair of shots that were on target by
Emma McGibany and
Kristin Brown in the first 19 minutes of the contest.
In the 42nd minute, Brown slipped in her first goal of the season off a
Kirsten Seeley shot attempt to give the Black and Gold a 1-0 lead going into the half.
Appalachian kept LR scoreless until the 62nd minute when Julia Edholm tied up the contest. The Trojans scored two minutes later to take a 2-1 advantage.
Mary Perkins' shot in the 83rd minute of the game would've tied up the match, but the attempt was saved by Julia Curatolo.
Five of the eight shots attempted by App were on frame, while holding a 5-4 edge in shots on goal. The Black and Gold held a 6-2 advantage in
corner kicks.
App will look to snap its three-match skid next weekend when it hosts ULM on Friday at 7 p.m. The Mountaineers are undefeated at home this season.
