TROY, ALA. – Appalachian State volleyball lost a close match to Troy on Friday, Nov. 10 (25-22, 17-25, 25-16, 21-25, 12-15).
Courtney Sullivan led the Mountaineers in kills with 13 while
Emma Reilly topped the scoreboard in digs with 17.
Ashlyn Brown had the most assistds during tonight's match of either team with 40.
The Mountaineers were tough through the first set and started off with a win. Three service aces in a row for the Trojans helped App State pull ahead 15-11 and stay ahead for the remainder of the set. The Mountaineers saw action with three kills apiece for
Courtney Sullivan and
Lexi Kohut. Despite their efforts on offense, Troy defeated App State 17-25 to tie it up at 1-1.
App State won the third set with help from attack errors and service errors by the Trojans. The App State offense had success all around from
Kara Spicer,
Courtney Sullivan,
Lexi Kohut,
Emma Longley and
Cassidy Stephenson. The Mountaineers dropped the ball for the last two sets, and the Trojans won the match overall, 2-3.
The Mountaineers end their regular season with a match against South Alabama on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. ET. in Mobile, Ala.
