Team

• With the win, Appalachian State moved to 6-1 overall, 3-0 in Sun Belt Conference play and handed Georgia Southern (5-2, 3-1 Sun Belt) its first-ever Sun Belt loss.

• Georgia Southern, the defending conference champion, was 11-0 all-time in Sun Belt games prior to Thursday's defeat.

• With the win, Appalachian State becomes bowl-eligible in its first full-fledged season as a member of NCAA Division I FBS.

• Appalachian State won its ninth-straight Sun Belt Conference game.

• Appalachian State won for the 12th time in its last 13 games overall.

• Appalachian State won its sixth-straight home game.

• Appalachian State beat rival Georgia Southern for the fourth time in five meetings, sixth time in eight meetings and ninth time in 13 meetings. Appalachian State also beat Georgia Southern for the fourth-straight time at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

• The margin of defeat was Georgia Southern's largest in a conference game since Appalachian State beat the Eagles, 38-14, in the final Southern Conference matchup between the two programs on Oct. 26, 2013.

• Appalachian State limited Georgia Southern, the nation's No. 1 rushing offense at 399.0 ypg coming in, to a season-low 188 yards on the ground (prev. low: 195 in 44-0 loss at West Virginia on Sept. 5).

Individual

• Appalachian State junior tight end Barrett Burns' 33-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter was the longest reception of his career (prev.: 16 at Georgia State, Oct. 10, 2015).

• Second-half interceptions by Appalachian State juniors Mondo Williams and Alex Gray were the first of their respective careers.

• Georgia Southern running back Matt Breida, who averaged 146.7 rushing yards per games, managed just 78 yards on 14 carries (5.6 avg.).
