Shumaker will return as a graduate assistant for operations after serving as the Mountaineers' head student manager until she graduated from App State with a degree in exercise science and a minor in psychology this spring. During her time as head manager, she assisted the team with recruiting, video and equipment duties as well as aided at summer basketball camps. Last season, she helped the Mountaineers capture their best Sun Belt finish (fourth place) in their eighth season since joining the league.
 
"After four years of having Maren by my side as a manager, we could not let her leave," Elderkin said. "I am so excited to mentor Maren in her new position and watch her grow and thrive."

"I am excited to get the opportunity to work with Coach Elderkin and staff for a few more years," said Shumaker. "I loved my time being a manager as an undergraduate student, so getting to be with the staff and team for two more years as a graduate assistant is going to be a great learning experience for me. I am thankful that Coach Elderkin has given me the opportunity and cannot wait to get started."
