Biography

Fifth-year senior returns for his third year as a starter at the bandit position, which serves as a hybrid linebacker/defensive end in the Mountaineers’ defensive scheme … has 112 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks in his two seasons as a starter … blends ideal size (6-3, 256 pounds) and athleticism to be a three-down force against the run and in pass coverage … is a tenacious pass-rusher … hard-worker in the weight room has added over 40 pounds to his 6-3 frame since his arrival on campus in 2008.

2011: Started all 12 games, making first six starts at strongside linebacker (SAM) and final six at bandit … ranked second on team with 65 tackles … tied for team lead and 11th in SoCon with four sacks … ranked fourth on team with nine tackles for loss … led squad with eight quarterback hurries, more than twice as many as the team’s second-highest total (3 — Ronald Blair) … consistent performer has multiple tackles in all 12 games, three or more in 11 contests and five or more on eight occasions … assisted on a tackle for loss in season opener at Virginia Tech … had seven stops and two quarterback hurries in home opener versus North Carolina A&T … had a tackle for loss and a half-sack among five tackles against Savannah State … made only two tackles but was credited with an assist behind the line of scrimmage in defensive-dominated 14-12 win over No. 13 Chattanooga … notched a season-high 10 tackles — all solo — against No. 8 Wofford … had seven stops, including one for loss, and forced a fumble at The Citadel … had a sack among his five tackles in homecoming win over Samford … helped key 24-17 victory over top-ranked Georgia Southern with eight tackles, including a sack on the final play of the game that sealed the triumph … made five tackles and hurried the quarterback twice in regular-season home finale against Western Carolina … played a key role in come-from-behind 28-21 victory at Elon with 1.5 sacks for 20 yards and two quarterback hurries … had six stops, one tackle for loss and a QB hurry in season-ending loss to Maine.

2010: Enjoyed a breakout campaign in first season as a starter ... finished second on the team with 5.5 sacks, good for a tie for seventh in the Southern Conference ... ranked third on the team with eight tackles for loss ... appeared in all 13 games, making 10 starts, including the final nine games of the campaign ... after a slow start with just two stops and none for loss over the first three games of the season, had a season-changing performance at Samford with four tackles, including three behind the line of scrimmage and a sack ... moved back into the starting lineup the following week against Elon and responded with his second sack in as many games ... had six tackles and assisted on a sack against The Citadel then recorded six more stops with another sack and his first-career fumble recovery the following week versus Western Carolina ... saw his four-game sack streak come to an end versus Furman but still registered five stops in the win ... had a terrific game at Georgia Southern despite ASU suffering the overtime loss, with four tackles (three solo), 1.5 stops for loss, a sack and a forced fumble ... turned in perhaps his finest performance of the season by helping neutralize Wofford’s vaunted wingbone offense with a career-high nine tackles and his second fumble recovery of the season in the Mountaineers’ SoCon title-clinching 43-13 rout over the No. 4 Terriers ... was impressive in regular-season finale at Florida with four stops (three solo) ... notched five tackles, assisted on a tackle for loss, recorded a sack and tallied two quarterback hurries over two postseason contests ... finished season with seven quarterback hurries, good for second on the squad.
