After spending the better part of a year moving back-and-forth between wide receiver and defensive back, settled in at safety midway through last season and was a key cog in the secondary by the end of the campaign … missed all of spring practice while recovering from offseason knee surgery but is expected to be at 100 percent when fall camp begins … despite sitting out of spring drills, will compete with fellow junior Patrick Blalock for the starting assignment at free safety … may also see significant playing time on special teams.

2011: Quest to be in the regular-season rotation at wide receiver was set back by preseason knee injury that kept him out of much of fall camp … caught one pass for 30 yards in the third game of the season, a 41-6 win over Savannah State … as injuries mounted up on the defensive side of the ball, he moved back to the secondary midway through the season … made his first-career start as the Mountaineers’ nickel back in regular-season home finale versus Western Carolina and went on to start each of the final three games of the campaign … totaled 13 tackles over the final three contests, including seven in the season-ending loss to Maine.

2010: Appeared in six games, mainly on special teams ... had two special-teams tackles versus North Carolina Central ... did not catch a pass.

2009: Redshirted.

High School: In only season as a quarterback, passed for 1,929 yards and 23 touchdowns and rushed for 1,065 yards and 14 scores as a senior ... helped lead A.L.
