Appalachian State alumnus John Mark Hamilton is in his ninth year as Appalachian football’s director of player personnel.

In his role, Hamilton coordinates on-campus recruiting while also assisting in administrative duties associated with current student-athletes.

From 2009-11, Hamilton served as a defensive assistant coach at Appalachian State, working with the Mountaineers’ defensive backs, directing the offensive scout team and playing a pivotal role in recruiting before moving into his current non-coaching position.

As a student at Appalachian, Hamilton was an equipment manager before becoming a student assistant, working primarily with defensive linemen.

Hamilton graduated from Appalachian State in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. The Matthews, N.C. native is married to the former Amanda Soper.
