Biography

Career: Played in 19 games over four seasons for the Mountaineers, including every game during a nine-win season in 2023, when App State won a Sun Belt East Division title and the Cure Bowl.
 
2023: Appeared in all 14 games, contributing at tight end and on special teams.

2022: Appeared in three games, playing against The Citadel, Robert Morris and Old Dominion … Caught one pass for 18 yards against Robert Morris ... Also served as the backup long snapper.

2021: Appeared in one game, playing against ULM.

2020: Appeared in one game as a true freshman, making his college debut against Campbell.

High School: Excelled as a tight end for a Sarasota team that rushed for 205.4 yards per game in 2019 and went 6-4 to post its best record since 2006 … Scored touchdowns on four of his 15 receptions (third-highest total on the team) in 2019 and averaged 14.3 yards per catch … Also a long snapper, ranked No. 18 nationally at that position in the 2020 class by Kohl’s Football …  Played for coach Spencer Hodges at Sarasota … Three-sport athlete at Sarasota ... Son of Matt (first-round draft pick of the New York Yankees in 1993), grandson of Ron (ODU Hall of Famer who is the school's single-game rebound leader in basketball with 33 and was a 1969 draft pick of the New York Mets) and great-grandson of Karl (former MLB pitcher) … Drews' uncle, Jeff Vollmer, played tight end for the Mountaineers.
