Biography

Career: Appeared in 54 career games, rushing for 1,036 yards and eight touchdowns while having one 100-yard game (in the 2023 Cure Bowl).

2024: Team captain … Appeared in 10 games at running back, starting two … Finished season with 246 rushing yards and one touchdown (against Clemson) and caught 13 passes for 88 yards … Ran for a season-high 80 yards against Clemson on seven attempts … Had 20 receiving yards against ETSU and Georgia State … Ran for a season-high 21-yard gain against Clemson … Helped seal win at ECU with fourth-quarter run for a first down.

2023: Appeared in final six games, including both postseason games, and didn’t exhaust a year of eligibility by playing in just four regular-season games after missing the first eight games while recovering from preseason surgery for a foot injury (as a player who didn’t redshirt during his first three seasons in Boone) … Rushed for 283 yards and two touchdowns on 53 attempts for a 5.3 average, including a career-high 119 yards in the Cure Bowl victory … Rushed 34 times for 219 yards and two scores over the final three games, thanks to a six-carry, 63-yard effort with one TD against Georgia Southern and eight carries for 47 yards in the Sun Belt title game … Five straight carries — including gains of 10, 25 and 8 yards in the middle three — helped produce a pair of first downs to run out the clock on the final drive of a 13-9 win in the Cure Bowl, where he also set up a field goal by rushing for 26 yards on a third-and-23 play in the first half … Returned to action in Game 9 against Marshall and scored his first touchdown of the season a week later at Georgia State.

2022: Appeared in all 12 games and made first career start against The Citadel … Rushed for 167 yards on 26 attempts (6.4 average per carry) with two touchdowns and caught one pass for 18 yards (a touchdown against Troy) … Had rushing touchdowns against Georgia State and Robert Morris in back-to-back games … Season-high 67 yards on nine carries against Robert Morris after totaling 50 yards on seven carries against Georgia State … Started in backfield against The Citadel in a two-back set with the other back lining up out wide … Touchdown catch against Troy tied the game in the second quarter … Also had one tackle as a player who contributed on several special teams units.

2021: Appeared in all 14 games, contributing at running back and on special teams … Had 47 rushes for 236 yards (5.0 per carry) and three touchdowns … Scored touchdowns against Elon (8 yards), Georgia State (22 yards) and WKU (9 yards) … App State’s starting running back in the second half at Georgia State before finishing with season highs of 12 carries for 56 yards, with a long run of 22 yards on his touchdown with 10:51 left … Had six carries for 54 yards in the Boca Raton Bowl … Led team with 31 rushing yards against Georgia Southern … Staple on kickoff coverage, kickoff return and punt return units … Had three tackles overall and recovered a fumble on a kickoff return by ECU in the opening game.

2020: Appeared in all 12 games as a true freshman, playing the final 10 games at running back after beginning the season as an outside linebacker … Moved to offense with a shorthanded backfield heading into the Campbell game and finished season with 104 yards on 17 carries (6.1 average) … Had 49-yard run while posting 58 yards on five carries against Troy … Rushed eight times for 42 yards against Campbell in his offensive debut … Also contributed on special teams.

High School: Shrine Bowl selection excelled as a defensive back and quarterback for Watauga High School in Boone … As a senior, recorded 53 tackles, nine PBUs, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble as a defensive leader for a Watauga team that went 13-2 and reached the 3-AA Western final … As the Pioneers’ quarterback in 2019, the athletic Castle rushed for 2,223 yards, passed for 1,190 and accounted for 49 touchdowns (36 rushing) … Full-time varsity player for three seasons, with Watauga amassing a 36-6 record as he totaled 4,420 rushing yards, 2,629 passing yards with 101 touchdowns (70 rushing) … Rushed for 1,456 yards for a 10-3 team as a sophomore and 741 yards in 10 games for a 13-1 team as a junior in 2018 … Recovered six fumbles in three seasons defensively … Played for coach Ryan Habich at Watauga  … Three-sport athlete for the Pioneers … Rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports.
