2019: Made nine relief appearances and posted a 9.00 ERA with nine strikeouts and six hits allowed in 6.0 innings … Didn’t allow an earned run in seven of his nine appearances … Allowed an opposing batting average of .261 … Opened the season with a 0.00 ERA through 3.2 innings over five appearances, including three strikeouts in a scoreless inning during App State’s one-hit shutout of Furman … Also had three strikeouts during one inning against Georgia State, which scored two unearned runs … Had one strikeout in a scoreless inning against Wake Forest.
2018: Contributed as a relief pitcher and second baseman, starting once (vs. Western Carolina) and batting 1-for-4 with one single, one stolen base, one walk, one hit by pitch and four infield assists in two games at second … Made three mound appearances, pitching a scoreless inning at UNCG in Game 2 of the season, appearing out of the bullpen at Elon on March 10 and striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning against Coastal Carolina on May 19 – the final day of the season … Due to injuries, as second baseman Bailey Welch moved to shortstop, Herman played second base against North Carolina Central on April 17 and started there the following day against Western … Went 1-for-2 with a walk and steal off the bench against North Carolina Central … Had three assists and was hit by a pitch in his start against Western.
2017: Officially a redshirt season ... Appeared in five early season games, making three starts (two at second base, one as a DH) and also pitching in three games … Went 1-for-4 at the plate as the starting second baseman in the season opener and finished the year with two hits and one RBI in 14 at-bats ... Allowed three runs (two earned) and four hits while striking out seven batters and walking one over the course of 3.1 innings on the mound and had an 0-1 record … In a road sweep of Gardner-Webb, pitched two-thirds of a scoreless inning with one strikeout in one appearance and two strikeouts in a scoreless inning the following day.
2016: Saw action in 27 games as an infielder, starting 22 of them … Recorded eight hits on the year, driving home five runners … Crossed the plate nine times and converted two successful sacrifice bunts … Had his best game against Quinnipiac (Feb. 27) by driving in two runs on a shot through the gap … Drew nine walks on the season … Crossed the plate a career-high three times against Little Rock (April 2).
High School: Hit .375 with a .519 on-base percentage as a hitter and compiled a 1.18 ERA with a 0.855 WHIP as a pitcher during his final prep campaign … Two-year letterwinner … Coached by J.T. Gilbert … Played summer/fall ball for Georgia Jackets (coached by Rick Pfost).
