Biography

Career: Tied for third in Appalachian State history with 11 career triples (record: 14 - Preston Troutman, 2011-14).

2014: Overcame a slow start to hit .280 with two doubles, seven triples, four home runs, 38 RBI and 27 runs scored as a sophomore … hit .324 with six triples and 21 RBI in 26 Southern Conference games … seven triples were the most in Appalachian State history (program dates back to 1903) … also ranked seventh nationally and led the SoCon … after hitting .159 through March 28, hit .352 with 46 hits, 28 RBI and 21 runs scored over the final 32 games of the season … highlight of the first two months of the season came on Feb. 21 at NC State, when he went 2-for-4 with a career-high five RBI … hit a three-run home run off NC State’s Carlos Rodon on Feb. 21, the second homer of his career against the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft … turnaround from slow start began on March 29 versus UNCG when he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored … the two-hit game vs. UNCG on March 29 (only his fourth of the season to that point) began a string of five-straight multi-hit games — 3-for-5 with an RBI at South Carolina (April 1), 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored vs. ETSU (April 2), 2-for-4 with his first triple of the season, two RBI and a run scored at Wofford (April 4) and 3-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored in second game of Wofford series (April 5) … hit safely in 25 of the season’s final 32 games altogether, including 15 multi-hit performances … went on to match season high of three hits five more times (April 11 vs. The Citadel, April 19 at Elon, May 13 at ETSU, May 16 vs. Furman, May 21 vs. Georgia Southern) … finished the season with a team-high 13 multi-RBI games … all of his school-record seven triples came in the final 29 games of the campaign … recorded five outfield assists and several highlight-reel-worthy catches as Appalachian State’s everyday center fielder.
