2023: Transfer from N.C. State...Sat out the 2023 season due to transfer rules

Prior to App State: Smiley was a teammate of Jordan Fisher at East Lincoln High School in Denver, N.C., where he was ranked as the No. 20 catcher in the nation his senior year, and the No. 330 prospect nationally. As a senior he batted .367 with 11 doubles, six home runs, and 30 RBI in 29 games played.
