Biography

2009: Appeared in 45 games, splitting time between catcher (24 starts) and designated hitter (19 starts) ... one of the nation's most patient hitters, ranking 30th nationally in walks (.82 per game) ... led ASU in walks (37) despite ranking seventh in plate appearances (187) ... also one of the team's top power threats — led club in home run frequency (one HR per every 17.5 AB) and ranked fourth overall on team with eight round-trippers ... nearly led ASU to upset over No. 2 North Carolina, going 2-for-4 with three RBI in 9-8 loss to Tar Heels (March 10) ... walked four times and scored two runs in win over N.C. A&T (March 24) ... drew at least one walk in nine-straight games from April 4-18 ... hit game-tying home run in the eighth inning to cap 3-for-4, three-run, two-RBI performance in 9-7 win at Tennessee (April 7) ... collected a double and home run, scored three runs and drove in three in win over East Tennessee State (April 14) ... drove in three more runs the following evening versus Gardner-Webb (April 15) ... notched a career-best five RBI by going 3-for-4 with three runs and a homer in rout over UNC Greensboro (May 10) ... had 17 hits in the final 10 games of the season to raise batting average from .225 to .286 ... made just one error in 176 chances behind the plate.

2008 : Served as the Mountaineers’ primary catcher with 30 starts behind the plate ... added eight starts at designated hitter and three appearances as a defensive replacement behind the dish for 41 total appearances (38 starts) ... maintained a batting average well above .300 for much of the season, but fell to .274 for the campaign after collecting just eight hits in his final 50 at-bats of the year ... opened the season on a tear at the plate, hitting safely in 10 of his first 13 games (.405 BA) ... highlighted early-season proficiency by going 5-for-7 in two games at NC State (Feb. 23-24) and 4-for-4 versus Canisius (March 2) ... turned in best offensive performance of the year versus UNC Greensboro (March 23), going 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double, three RBI and three runs scored ... after registering multiple hits in seven of the season’s first 22 games, managed to do so only once in his final 19 outings of the year ... hit a home run in his only multi-hit effort over the final two months of the season, April 27 vs. Davidson ... torched left-handed pitching for a .367 average ... ranked second on the squad with a .362 average (17-for-47) with two outs ... threw out four would-be base-stealers and picked another runner off base from his catcher position.

2007 : Split time with Andrew Franco as ASU’s starting catcher ... appeared in 43 games, making 34 starts (32 behind the dish and two at DH) ... hit .289 with four home runs, a mark which tied for fourth on the squad ... made just one error in 234 chances, good for a team-best .996 fielding percentage ... hit an impressive .378 (14-for-45) with two outs ... had one of ASU’s biggest hits in recent team memory — a two-out, three-run home run in the eighth inning that completed the Mountaineers’  rally from a 10-5 deficit to defeat College of Charleston, 11-10, on the third day of the Southern Conference Tournament (May 24) ... the clutch blast capped a career day for Faggart, who finished 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored in the win over C of C, which eliminated the top-seeded Cougars from the SoCon Tournament and likely cost them an NCAA Regional bid ... drove in three runs and scored two more in a win at Furman (March 31) ... went a season-best 4-for-5 with three doubles in a winning effort at Western Carolina (May 6).

High School : A four-year letterwinner in both baseball and football ... two-time all-conference honoree in both sports ... helped lead Northwest Cabarrus to 3-A state championship series as a junior ...  coached by Joe Hubbard ... rushed for 4,500-career yards on the gridiron.
