Exceptionally talented senior returns for his third year as a starter … has started 25-straight games over the past two seasons, the longest active streak on the team … versatile athlete combines the skills of a cover cornerback, where he started all 13 games as a sophomore, and a hard-hitting strong safety, where he earned all-conference accolades last season and is expected to be the starter again this fall … despite playing in the secondary, has ranked among the team’s top four in tackles each of the past two seasons and his 150 career stops are good for third among all active Mountaineers, behind only senior linebackers Jeremy Kimbrough and Brandon Grier … is a team leader on and off the field … in addition to being a candidate for all-America recognition for his performance on the gridiron, will likely compete for academic All-America accolades after being a first-team academic all-district honoree a season ago.

2011: Earned second-team all-Southern Conference honors from the league’s coaches and media … started all 12 games at strong safety in his first season at the position … ranked third on the team and 16th in the SoCon with 79 tackles … tied for third on the team with two interceptions and tied for fourth with three pass break-ups … led the team in tackles three times, including the season opener at Virginia Tech, when he made a game-high 10 stops … was one of the top defensive players in the home opener versus North Carolina A&T with five tackles, including one for loss, and a 27-yard interception return that set up a Mountaineer touchdown in the Apps’ 58-6 victory … tied for the team lead with six tackles despite sitting out much of the second half in rout over Savannah State … was a big part of a defensive-dominated 14-12 win over No. 13 Chattanooga with seven tackles, two quarterback hurries and a pass break-up … had six stops and recovered a fumble at No. 8 Wofford … had just four stops in back-to-back road games at The Citadel and Furman but sandwiched in between were consecutive nine-tackle performances at home against Samford and No. 1 Georgia Southern … also broke up a pass in the 24-17 win over top-ranked GSU … intercepted a pass in the loss at Furman … had five tackles and broke up a pass in win over Western Carolina … made three stops in come-from-behind victory at Elon … had a season-high 11 tackles, including one for loss, in season-ending loss to Maine … earned academic all-Southern Conference and first-team academic all-district recognition for excellence on the field and in the classroom.
