CLEMSON, S.C. – The App State volleyball team dropped its second match at the Clemson Invitational, falling 3-0 to UNC Greensboro on Saturday afternoon at Jervey Gymnasium. The Spartans took the match by set scores of 30-28, 25-18 and 26-24.
The Mountaineers (2-3) battled throughout the match, pushing the opening and third sets to extra points. App State finished the afternoon with 46 kills and hit .269 as a team, while UNC Greensboro recorded 49 kills and hit .362.
Brooke Doherty led the Mountaineers offensively with 12 kills, while Delanie Grevengoed added 10 kills. Chelsea Gilmore and Bella Hutchens each recorded nine kills, with Gilmore turning in an impressive .818 hitting percentage after recording nine kills without an error on 11 attacks.
Raegan Richardson directed the App State offense with 33 assists while adding seven digs and two service aces. MeMe Davis paced the Mountaineers defensively with 17 digs, while Doherty and Richardson each contributed seven digs.
Hutchens recorded three total blocks, including one solo block and two block assists, while Lou Johnson added two blocks. As a team, App State finished with six total blocks and six service aces.
App State will conclude play at the Clemson Invitational Sunday against host Clemson.
