Women's Golf Enters Last Round of Sun Belt Stroke Play in 2nd Place

POINT CLEAR, Ala. — Sixth-seeded App State Women's Golf will enter Wednesday's final round of stroke play at the Sun Belt Championship tournament in a tie for second place among 13 teams.

After 36 of 54 holes in the stroke play portion of the event, the Mountaineers are seven shots behind first-place ULM, which is 4 over. App State and Texas State are both 11 over, seven shots ahead of the tie for fourth and fifth places between Old Dominion and Coastal Carolina.

The top four teams after Wednesday's last round of stroke play will advance to Thursday morning's match play semifinals, with the final match set for Thursday afternoon.

Thanks to a team-best 73 in the second round Tuesday, Alisa Pressley is tied for eighth overall at 1 over. Zoe Duval is also at 1 over for the event following a second-round 76.

Ona Lukes and Salem Lee both followed opening-round 72s with 77s to sit at 5 over, making them part of a tie for 19th place. Maria Pinedo bounced back in Round 2 to shoot a 76, giving her a tie for the second-best score on the team Tuesday.

ROUND 1 RECAP
App State surged to an early lead and completed the opening round of Sun Belt Championship tournament stroke play in first place among 13 teams at The Lakewood Club on Monday.

The Mountaineers posted a 3-under team total of 285, putting them three shots ahead of second-place ULM, thanks to contributions from four players who ended the first day within the top six on the individual leaderboard. Zoe Duval was third with a 3-under 69, while Salem Lee, Ona Lukes and Alisa Pressley were tied for sixth after even-par 72s.

Duval enters Round 2 trailing co-leaders Daniela Campillo Martinez of ULM and Manya Saini of Troy by one stroke.

App State tied for the second-lowest team round in program history, which was a 3-under 285 during the final round of the 2017 Sun Belt Championship tournament.

The Mountaineers finished 13th at the 2025 conference tournament but have three new starters with two freshmen (Duval, Pressley) and one transfer (Maria Pinedo, who shot 86 on Monday) joining two returning starters (Lukes, Lee). App State ended the regular season with the eighth-best team scoring average in the conference at 298.8, with the highlights including three runner-up finishes in six spring events and seven of the top 10 team rounds in program history, including a record-setting 276 during the fall.

The final 36 holes of stroke play are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. The top four teams then advance to Thursday's match play semifinals and final.

After App State and ULM (even par), third-place Texas State is at 9 over, followed by Coastal Carolina at 13 over and two teams at 15 over (Old Dominion, South Alabama). Golfers from App State, ULM and Texas State will be paired together Tuesday in groups that tee off between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. ET (9 a.m. through 9:36 a.m. CT).

The 2026 spring season is presented by Hound Ears Club.
