JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The App State tennis team defeated ETSU 4-3 on Sunday, marking its first win over the Buccaneers since 2019.
Naledi Manyube snapped a four-match losing streak to clinch the victory for the Mountaineers (7-9) at No. 2. Manyube remained resilient in a three-set thriller, winning 2-6, 7-5, 7-5. Trailing 5-4 in the third set, she took three consecutive games to secure the win and provide App State the deciding fourth point.

Savannah Dada-Mascoll extended her winning streak to 14 matches, cruising to a straight-set victory at No. 1, only dropping a single game in the 6-0, 6-1 win.
Alexi Cleveland won her second straight match at No. 5, securing a crucial 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 comeback victory to move to 2-1 at that position.
How It Happened
App State opened the match by clinching the doubles point after conceding it in its previous two matches. Tied at 4-4,
Ruby Broadbent and Manyube won two straight games at No. 2 to pick up their sixth win as a duo.
Dada-Mascoll completed her win at No. 1 to give the Mountaineers a quick 2-0 lead before a loss at No. 3 put ETSU (10-5) on the board. Since dropping a set against UT Arlington on Feb. 28, Dada-Mascoll has won 14 consecutive sets to fuel her perfect run through the month of March.
Cleveland's tough win at the No. 5 spot put App State one point away from clinching the dual. After a Mountaineer loss at No. 6, the match rested with Manyube and
Allegra Hodson. Manyube pulled through in a back-and-forth battle to secure the team victory and her sixth win of the season. Hodson was facing a match point when the dual was clinched, and her match was finalized as a loss to bring the overall score to 4-3.
