BOONE, N.C. – The App State volleyball team pocketed a four-set senior night match over Marshall, winning 18-25, 26-24, 25-12, 25-19 on Thursday.
The Mountaineers (17-10,10-3 SBC, 9-2 East) and Thundering Herd (14-10, 7-6 SBC, 6-5 East) will meet again Friday at 6 p.m. in the Holmes Convocation Center. App State sits second in the East Division, one game behind Georgia Southern, which has a 10-1 division record.
App State turned the tide in set two Thursday after trailing 21-11. The Thundering Herd had its sights on taking a two-set lead, but a
Delanie Grevengoed serving streak quickly closed the gap for the Mountaineers to tie the set at 23-23 before pushing past Marshall to a 26-24 set win.
After dominating the third set, App State was able to close the fourth on a dramatic final kill from
Bella Hutchens, assisted by
Raegan Richardson, to bring the three seniors a win before they were recognized and celebrated.
Hutchens (15),
Brooke Doherty (14), Grevengoed (11) and
Chelsea Gilmore (11) led App State in kills.
MeMe Davis and Richardson posted match highs of 24 digs and 44 assists, respectively.
