BOONE, N.C. — Kaden Keiser's 3-0 record for a first-place finish in round-robin action at 149 pounds served as the top highlight for App State Wrestling during the Appalachian Open held Saturday in Varsity Gym.
The start time of the event was moved up from 10 a.m. to 8 a.m. because of forecasted weekend weather, and competition concluded before noon.

Gunnar Pool reached the 197 final with a pair of first-period pins. He had the first takedown before falling 7-3 to The Citadel's Adam Ortega in the final.
Joe Fongaro was credited with a second-place finish at 141 by going 1-1 in round-robin action with three wrestlers.
The Mountaineers' third-place finishers were
Joe Zovistoski (3-1 record at 174 pounds),
Reid Hiltunen (2-1 record at 197 pounds),
Colby McBride (2-2 record at 125 pounds) and
Brayden Fahrbach (1-2 record in round-robin action at 149 pounds).
App State's 2025-26 season is presented by Hungry Howie's and Penn Station.
