LAFAYETTE, La. — The App State tennis team defeated Louisiana 4-0 to wrap up the regular season.
With the win, the Mountaineers finish the season with a program-best 17 victories, capping it off with a 10-match overall win streak and eight consecutive conference wins—both also program records.
What Happened
The Mountaineers (17-5, 9-2 SBC) opened the match by clinching the doubles point. Due to Louisiana not having enough players, App State was awarded the win at No. 3 doubles. Naledi Manyube and Ruby Broadbent secured the doubles point with a decisive 6-2 victory on court two over the Ragin' Cajuns (9-10, 2-8 SBC).
In singles action, Louisiana was unable to field a player at the No. 6 spot, giving the Mountaineers a 2-0 lead.
Alexi Cleveland extended the lead with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win from the No. 5 position. She improved to 9-3 on the season, including an impressive 5-1 mark in Sun Belt play.
Shortly after Cleveland's win, Savannah Dada-Mascoll clinched the match for App State, posting a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. She closed the regular season with a stellar 17-2 overall record and a 9-2 mark in conference play.
The matches involving Manyube, Olwyn Ryan-Bovey and Broadbent were left unfinished after Dada-Mascoll's clinching win.

The Mountaineers now turn their focus to the Sun Belt Championships in Rome, Ga. The tournament begins Wednesday and runs through Sunday, April 27.
