Hege drilled her third 3-point bucket early in the second quarter. Despite a pair of freebies from junior Elena Pericic and a layup from Moffitt, JMU steadily extended the deficit. Porter netted seven in the second quarter and drained 5-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Down 48-28 at the half, App State chipped away at the deficit with a layup from Porter, jumper from Moffitt, and a trey from junior Elena Pericic early in the third quarter. With an assist from Porter, Moffitt landed another jumper. Despite a 3-point bucket from senior Mara Neira, JMU closed the third quarter with a 64-41 lead.
