BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Five App State wrestlers posted unbeaten records Sunday at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic.
The event had a format with more round-robin elements than a traditional tournament, with some weight classes having as many as eight different pools of competitors.
Alex Hopper went 4-0 in his pool at 174 pounds, while
Aldo Hernandez (141),
Anthony Conetta (165),
Logan Eller (197) and
Stephan Monchery (heavyweight) all went 3-0.
Kaden Keiser produced a ranked win at 149 pounds, using a tying takedown late in regulation and a Sudden Victory overtime takedown to prevail 7-4 against No. 31 Richard Fedalen from Columbia as part of a 2-1 day.
After having a tiebreaking, last-second takedown wiped out by a lengthy review in his final match, Hernandez capped his day with a Sudden Victory takedown of Rutgers' Mason Gibson to prevail 9-6.
Conetta had two pins among his three victories, while Hopper had tiebreaking takedowns with 35 seconds left in his first match and 29 seconds left in his final match. Eller outscored his three opponents 16-1 while finishing one match with a first-period pin, and Monchery posted victories by scores of 17-6, 8-1 and 9-5 (with a late takedown to seal that win).
Jarvis Little (133 pounds) and
Kai O'Dell (157) had 3-1 records, as O'Dell used a Sudden Victory takedown to win 5-2 against Rutgers' Dagen Condomitti. Seven wrestlers from App State went 2-1: Keiser,
Cooper Foster (125),
Joe Fongaro (141),
Jeremiah Price (157),
Dawson Bond (165),
Colt Campbell (174) and
Hunter Adams (197).
App State's 2025-26 season is presented by Hungry Howie's and Penn Station.
