App State to Begin Advanced Planning on Kidd Brewer Stadium East Tower

BOONE, N.C. – App State Athletics is set to begin advanced planning for the Kidd Brewer Stadium East Tower construction project, following approval Monday from the Appalachian State University Board of Trustees.

"This is an exciting next step toward building the premier 40,000-seat stadium in college football," Director of Athletics Doug Gillin said. "We are grateful for the support of the university's Board of Trustees, Chancellor Norris and her leadership team, and our generous donors. Kidd Brewer Stadium's new East Tower will provide much-needed upgrades to Kidd Brewer Stadium operations, further enhance the game day experience for student-athletes and fans and drive economic growth in the High Country."

The East Tower will serve as a landmark facility in the High Country. App State has sold out of season tickets in four consecutive seasons and has boasted the top four attendance figures in school and Sun Belt Conference history over the last four years.

The project will be included in the university's Master Planning process. Initial concepts include new premium seating, renovated and additional restroom and concessions facilities, additional special event facilities, and connecting the East and North sides of The Rock.

Advanced planning takes place before construction approvals. It includes establishing the overarching vision, mission, objectives and scope of the project and conducting site analyses and financial analyses, among other construction and operational planning.
