Mountaineers Sport Game Day Attire at Women in Motion 3.0

BOONE, N.C. – App State Athletics' third annual Women in Motion event, presented by the App State Campus Store on Aug. 17, showcased tremendous enthusiasm from participants and attendees alike.

Female student-athletes from App State dressed in their game day apparel and took to the runway in front of a sold-out Grandview Ballroom. The event raised enough money to support two full scholarships for App State female student-athletes.

Fans are encouraged to continue supporting the App State Athletics' Women in Motion initiative by making a contribution.

"For our female student-athletes to receive that kind of support – both financially and emotionally – is incredibly gratifying," Senior Associate Athletics Director Sarah Strickland said. "It's so fulfilling to see the enthusiasm for women's sports continue to grow."

Participants in the event included cheerleading's Jayeleigh Drake and Valencia Williams, field hockey's Sophia Baxter and Kendall Cooke, soccer's Stephanie Barbosa, Gracie Giacoletto, Mumu Guisasola, Reagan Hamilton and Sarah Widderich, softball's Marti Henkel, Makayla McClain and Sophie Moshos, tennis' Taya Powell, track and field's Ava Studney and Daye Talley, volleyball's Caroline Farthing, Akila Hardie, Cierra Huntley and Maya Winterhoff and women's basketball's Zoë McCrary and Eleyana Tafisi.

Studney, a pole vaulter who set program records last spring, spoke at the event and highlighted the impressive facility growth across women's sports at App State during her tenure.

In addition to the student-athletes who took to the runway, the event also included participation from the App State Student Government Association, App State General Counsel and family members of App State coaches.

App State Athletics was pleased to partner with Alumni Hall, Boone Belles, the Campus Store, Take Heart, Lucky Penny, Mast General Store, Sweet Mimis and Yosef's Locker in outfitting participants with their game day apparel for the event.
