App State Set for Road Contest at Arkansas State in Regular Season Finale

JONESBORO, Ark. -- App State men's basketball will conclude the regular season on Friday evening at Arkansas State. Tip is set for 8 p.m. EST on ESPN+.

THE SERIES
  • App State holds an 8-6 lead in the all-time series.
  • The Mountaineers have won three straight in the series, including a 61-54 victory in Boone earlier this season.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
  • App State topped Little Rock 78-66 on Wednesday evening to clinch a bye in the Sun Belt Tournament.
  • Michael Almonacy tied his career-high with six made three to finish with a season-high 26 points. Adrian Delph added 18 points and eight rebounds, Justin Forrest had 11 points and Donovan Gregory had 10 points, four rebounds and seven assists.
  • App State can clinch the No. 2 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament with a win or Troy loss. The Mountaineers will be seeded third in the Sun Belt Tournament with a loss and Troy victory.
  • Delph has scored in double figures in every conference game this season and 28 of 30 games overall.
  • James Lewis Jr. has recorded five or more rebounds in seven of his last nine games and is averaging 6.2 rebounds during that span.
  • App State's 12 Sun Belt victories are the most for the program since joining the conference and since the 2009-10 season, when the Black and Gold posted 13 victories in Southern Conference play.
SCOUTING THE RED WOLVES
  • Arkansas State fell 74-69 at home to Coastal Carolina on Wednesday. 
  • Norchad Omier tallied his 18th double-double of the season with 23 points, 15 rebounds, five blocks and a career-high five steals. Malcolm Farrington added 10 points off the bench and Caleb Fields finished with nine points and four rebounds.
  • Omier is averaging a double-double on the season, ranking second in the conference in scoring at 17.4 points and sits atop the conference in rebounding at 12.1 rebounds.
  • In conference play, Omier is averaging 19.6 points (second in Sun Belt) and a league leading 13.6 rebounds.
UP NEXT
App State will set its sights on the Sun Belt Tournament, which tips next week in Pensacola, Fla. The Mountaineers will play their first game in the tournament on March 5.
