BOONE, N.C. – App State Field Hockey played gritty in a 2-0 loss to Big Ten opponent Ohio State Sunday.
"I'm proud of our girls for working," head coach
Meghan Dawson said. "A lot of stuff was uncontrollable, and I'm proud of them for pushing through. I'm looking forward to using this to go into conference play next week."
Addie Clark recorded 10 saves on the day, and
Grace Ball stepped in for App State's first defensive save of the season in the second period to keep the game within reach.
Ohio State struck early in the 1st period, and then again directly out of the halftime break to push the Buckeyes to a 2-0 lead.

Sydney Lee attempted shots, totaling five for the Mountaineers.
Next weekend, the Mountaineers will host Miami (OH) (2-5) and Davidson (2-3). App State is set to take on Miami (OH) at 3 p.m. on Friday and Davidson at noon on Sunday. Both games will be streamed on Twitch.
Friday's match-up against Miami will mark the Mountaineers' first conference game of the season.
