The Chanticleers started the game with a 14-8 advantage before a 6-0 run that was sparked by a Jackie Christ layup tied up the contest going into the second quarter. Back-to-back trifectas by Gosnell and Porter to start the second frame started an 18-4 run that gave the Apps a 32-18 edge with 3:57 left in the first half.
CCU responded by slicing the gap to six late in the quarter with a run of its own. Sanders' layup at the end of the half stopped an 8-0 run and sent the Apps into the break with a 34-26 lead.
The hosts scored the first five points of the second half to dwindle the App State lead to one possession, 34-31. Bigott caught fire by hitting five straight 3-pointers during a 19-2 surge over a 5:31 span, giving the Apps a 53-33 lead and putting the game out of reach.
Aja Blount scored a game-high 30 points for the Chanticleers with 11 rebounds. Blount hit 12 of her 17 shots (rest of team: 10-36).
