BOONE, N.C. – App State men's basketball scored the first 13 points and never looked back in a 90-29 victory over Boyce on Wednesday evening.
All 13 players to play for the Mountaineers (5-4) scored.
Michael Almonacy had a game-high 11 points.
Christopher Mantis added career highs of 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.
CJ Huntley finished a perfect 4-of-4 from the field to finish with 10 points and five rebounds.
Michael Eads Jr. had a near double-double with nine points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
Bryant Greene tallied a career-high nine points and a career-best eight rebounds, while
Sasha Glushkov finished with nine points and six rebounds.
Terence Harcum added a career-high eight points and
Andrew Muse poured in seven points.
App State knocked down five consecutive field goals, with three coming via 3-pointer, to take a 13-0 lead. Following a Bulldog (2-5) basket, the Mountaineers reeled off seven consecutive points to open a 20-2 lead with 14:30 left in the opening half. The Mountaineers closed the half on a 12-3 run and took a 46-10 lead into the break
In the second half, App State opened with a 13-3 run to take a 59-13 lead. The Black and Gold used a 10-0 run later in the half to build a 80-23 lead to close out the victory.
The Mountaineers limited Boyce to 10-of-60 (16.7 percent) shooting and just a 2-of-27 (7.4 percent) clip from deep. App State held a 48-16 edge in points in the paint, a 20-0 advantage in fast break points and a 57-16 edge in bench scoring.
In addition, App State pulled down a season-high 61 rebounds and also dished out a season-best 22 assists in the victory.
The Mountaineers will take time off for finals and return to action on Dec. 10 at Furman. Tip is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
