THE SERIES
- This will be the 40th all-time meeting between the two schools, with the 49ers leading 24-15.
- App State has won the last two in the series, topping Charlotte 64-55 in Boone in the 2019-20 season and 61-57 last season in Charlotte.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- App State soared past William Peace on Monday evening 98-49 to improve to 2-1 on the season.
- Four Mountaineers reached double figures in scoring in James Lewis Jr. (15), CJ Huntley (14), Donovan Gregory (11) and Adrian Delph (10). Xavion Brown had a career-high tying eight points, a career-high tying six rebounds and a career-best six assists. RJ Duhart added seven points and four rebounds.
- Delph is the lone Mountaineer to reach double figures in scoring in all three games this season and averaging a team-best 14.7 points.
- Lewis Jr. is averaging a team leading 7.3 rebounds.
- App State leads the Sun Belt in rebounding margin at +11.3. In addition, the Mountaineers' 14.0 offensive rebounds per game ranks second in the conference.
SCOUTING THE 49ERS
- Charlotte stands at 2-0 on the young season, with wins over Monmouth and USC Upstate.
- Through two games, Jahmir Young leads the 49ers in scoring (19.5 ppg), rebounding (8.0 rpg), assists (12) and free throw percentage (.875).
- Four other 49ers are averaging double figures in scoring in Austin Butler (13.0 ppg), Clyde Trapp (12.5 ppg), Robert Braswell IV (12.5 ppg) and Aly Khalifa (10.0 ppg).
- Khalifa was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week after averaging 10.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in the 49ers' first two wins of the season.
UP NEXT
App State will head to Florida for the Gulf Coast Showcase from Nov. 22 to Nov. 24. The Mountaineers open play on Nov. 22 against Delaware at 7:30 p.m. and will also play on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24 against opponents that have yet to be determined. All games will be broadcast on FloHoops.
