BOONE, N.C. -- App State volleyball dropped a 25-17, 25-16, 25-15 home decision to Troy on Sunday.
Anna Kincaid paced the App State offense with a team leading five kills, while hitting .308. She added a pair of service aces and a block assist.
Lulu Ambrose and
McCall Denny each finished with four kills.
Sam Bickley dished out 11 assists and had six digs, while
Emma Reilly finished with a team-high 10 digs.
In the opening set, a kill from Denny knotted the score at 13-13. From there, the Trojans (10-7, 3-3 SBC) won three straight points to take a 16-13 lead. App State used a block assist from
Daryn Armstrong and
Madison Baldridge to win the next point, but Troy captured the next three points to build a 19-14 lead. Troy didn't let the Mountaineers (5-12, 1-5 SBC) get any closer, taking the opening set 25-17.
In Set 2, the Trojans won the first seven points to take a 7-0 lead. App State could get no closer than six points in the remainder of the set, falling 25-16.
Set 3 saw the Mountaineers tie the score at 8-8 on a service ace from Kincaid. Troy won four of the next five points to take a 12-9 lead. The Mountaineers pulled within a point at 13-12 on a service ace from Reilly. Troy pushed its lead to 18-14, before a kill from Ambrose pulled the Mountaineers within 18-15. From there, the Trojans won seven consecutive points to win the set and clinch the match
Alison Siersma paced Troy with a match-high 15 kills, while Amara Anderson dished out 34 assists.
App State will continue its home stand next weekend and host Louisiana at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and ULM on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.
