Men's Basketball Continues Home Stand Against Bowling Green on Monday Evening

BOONE, N.C. -- App State men's basketball continues its home stand on Monday evening against MAC preseason favorite Bowling Green. Tip is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+ and the Appalachian Sports Network from Learfield IMG College.

SPECTATOR INFO
With the implementation of Governor Roy Cooper's Executive Order 176, Phase 3 of North Carolina's eased coronavirus restrictions allows for indoor venues to have no more than 25 spectators. These 25 tickets will be reserved for student-athlete families. All 25 ticket recipients will be assigned a seat for upcoming games.

THE SERIES
  • This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
LAST TIME OUT
  • App State won its seventh consecutive home opener with a 105-23 win over Carver on Friday evening.
  • All 15 players to see action scored and 14 pulled down at least one rebounds.
  • James Lewis Jr. tied his App State career-high with 12 points, while adding six rebounds. Sasha Glushkov had a double-double with career bests of 11 points and 13 rebounds. Adrian Delph added 10 points.
  • Leading 3-2 early on, the Black and Gold scored 10 straight points to push its lead to 13-2 with just over 14 minutes left in the opening frame. Following a Cougar basket, App State responded with a 25-0 run over the next 6:20 to open a 38-4 advantage. The Mountaineers opened as large of a lead as 45 points in the first half and took a 56-12 lead into the break. In the second half, the Black and Gold scored the first 14 points to expand its lead to 70-12. App State's lead ballooned to as 100-17 en route to the home opener victory.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
  • App State stands at 2-0 on the season after Friday's win.
  • The Mountaineers defense has been tough through the first two games of the season, limiting South Carolina State to 61 points and Carver to 23. In all, the Black and Gold are giving up 42.0 points to opponents, which leads the nation.
  • The Black and Gold also have posted back-to-back strong rebounding performances, pulling down 59 against South Carolina State and 61 against Carver. App State is averaging 60.0 rebounds, which is tops in the nation. In addition, the Mountaineers' 120 total rebounds ranks ninth.
  • Donovan Gregory is averaging a team-high 11.0 points, while Delph is right behind at 10.0 points.
  • Three players are shooting over 70.0 percent from the field in Lewis Jr. (.750), RJ Duhart (.750) and R.J. Wilson (.714).
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
  • Bowling Green stands at 1-1 on the season after topping South Carolina State 101-78 on Saturday.
  • Daeqwon Plowden led five Falcons in double figures with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Trey Diggs (17), Justin Turner (16), Caleb Fields (15) and Kaden Metheny (13) also reached double figures in the win.
  • Bowling Green was selected to win the MAC in the preseason poll.
  • The Falcons were ranked No. 18 in the preseason CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 poll.
