Men's Basketball Continues Conference Road Swing at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. -- App State men's basketball continues its three-game conference road trip on Thursday evening at Arkansas State. Tip is set for 8 p.m. EST on ESPN+ and the Appalachian Sports Network from Learfield IMG College.

THE SERIES
  • This will be the 13th all-time meeting between the two schools, with the series tied at 6-6
  • App State snapped a four-game losing streak to the Red Wolves on Jan. 16 with an 83-80 overtime win in Boone
EARLIER THIS SEASON
  • Justin Forrest hit a closing three in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime as App State posted an 83-80 overtime win in Boone on Jan. 16 over the Red Wolves.
  • In the extra session, the Mountaineers broke a 79-79 tie with 35 seconds left on a basket from Adrian Delph. Arkansas State cut its deficit to a point with five seconds left on a free throw, but O'Showen Williams drained a pair of free throws with two seconds left to give App State an 83-80 lead. A shot at the buzzer was no good for the Red Wolves, giving App State the victory.
  • Five players reached double figures in the win for the Mountaineers. Forrest finished with 20 points and three assists, Delph had 15 points and five rebounds and Williams tallied his first double-double with 14 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. James Lewis Jr. had 12 points and five rebounds off the bench and Hunter Seacat chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.
  • Melo Eggleston had 17 points and seven rebounds for Arkansas State, while Marquis Eaton and Jerry Johnson each had 13 points.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
  • App State improved to 11-10 and 5-5 in Sun Belt play with a 78-58 win over Coastal Carolina on Saturday
  • The victory was the fifth 20-point win of the season for the Mountaineers and marked the eighth time this season the Black and Gold have held an opponent under 60 points
  • Justin Forrest has reached double figures in 14 straight games and sits second in the league in scoring average at 18.6 points
  • Over his last three games, O'Showen Williams is averaging 14.0 points and 8.3 rebounds
  • Isaac Johnson has 951 points in his career and is just 49 points shy of becoming the 34th player in program history to score 1,000 career points.
SCOUTING THE RED WOLVES
  • Arkansas State pushed its winning streak to three with a 78-62 win at Troy on Saturday. The Red Wolves limited the Trojans to just 29 percent shooting in the win
  • Four players are averaging double figures in scoring in Marquis Eaton (11.7 ppg), Melo Eggleston (10.9 ppg), Caleb Fields (10.6 ppg) and Canberk Kus (10.4 ppg)
  • As a team, the Red Wolves rank third in the Sun Belt in three-point percentage (.356) and assists average (14.5 apg)
