AUGUST 2019 – ASK THE A.D.
What is the latest update on construction at the north end zone?
I met recently with the construction team, and the project remains on schedule to open in the fall of 2020. What I've learned through this process is how much work goes on underground, and that's a lot of the progress that has been made this summer.
This weekend is move-in weekend for the majority of App State students, and as we move forward from that, you'll begin to notice more visible signs of progress with steel and concrete going up. Like all of you, I'm excited to see that facility begin to take shape, because it's going to be a game-changer that serves an important role for our community, the campus as a whole, our student-athletes and App State Athletics.
How will the parking changes affect getting to and leaving Kidd Brewer Stadium on game days?
Our season-ticket holders recently received their tickets and parking assignments from our Yosef Club team. With the construction on campus, we appreciate everyone's understanding and patience.
With that in mind, we are encouraging fans to arrive early and stay late when they visit The Rock this season.
Early arrivals will help fans reach their parking spaces and seats in a timely fashion, and to accommodate that, we plan to open the gates to Kidd Brewer Stadium earlier than we have in past years — a full two hours before kickoff. We are also currently working on plans to have videoboard programming to entertain fans who are in their seats early.
Will beer be sold in Kidd Brewer Stadium for the first home game?
We are close to finalizing plans that will allow for beer sales all season at The Rock. Stay tuned to appstatesports.com for more details as those are released.
We have been extremely thorough in our planning and want to make sure we take a really smart approach, because this is an effort to create a better game day experience for you, the fans.
We know you have many different options to follow the Mountaineers on fall Saturdays, and we are doing everything we can to give you the best experience possible when you visit the High Country for a football weekend.
Why don't we move the bank in closer at the southern end zone and use the extra space up top for a plaza, concessions, picnic area, etc.?
That's a great question. It's something we've looked at, but right now we're focused on the North End Zone and Appalachian 105 projects.
Are there any plans to create a rivalry trophy between App State and Georgia Southern?
As of right now, there are no plans to create one.
Thanks to everyone for your interest, your questions and your support. Go Mountaineers!
