CLINTON, S.C. – Appalachian State (28-14, 11-6 SBC) earned their 13
th road win this season against Presbyterian (11-35-2). The Mountaineers defeated the Blue Hose 4-1 and are now 13-5 on the road and 17-8 in non-conference play this season.
With the win,

The Mountaineers started off early scoring four runs in the first inning.
Keri White started swinging first with a hard single off the third baseman.
Caylie Kifer followed reaching on a bunt and moving White to second.
Keeping the trend going,
Sidney Russell singled to left field, moving everyone around the bases and bringing home White for the first run of the game.
Both Kifer and Russell stole bases putting them in scoring position. As Kifer took third, a throwing error by the Blue Hose brought her around to touch home.
Haley Stewart singled to center, bringing home Russell and serving as the final offensive act and leaving the first inning ahead 3-0.
The only run for Presbyterian came in the second inning when runners advanced on a Mountaineer throwing error.
Making her way around the bases again, White scored on a wild pitch for the final run of the game, bringing the score to 4-1.
Kifer, Russell and
Baylee Morton all had a hit a piece. Morton's hit came on a double to left field in the fourth inning. She also managed a walk in the sixth inning. White and Stewart managed two hits in the win.
"I like how we rebounded today from the weekend," head coach
Shelly Hoerner said. "Syd had a good day on the mound, and I felt like she kept them off balance very well. Any win is a good win, but a road win is even better. We came out and Keri set the tone in the top of the first and didn't look back. Haley and Baylee had a good day at the plate which is good to see for this coming weekend."
The Mountaineers head back into Sun Belt play this weekend with a series against Troy. Game one and two is scheduled for a doubleheader on Firday starting at 6 p.m. The series finale is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
