BOONE, N.C. — App State alum and Miami Dolphins captain Daniel Kilgore is the team's nominee for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, which goes to the player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition.
The nomination of Kilgore highlights #NFLneers for Week 11.
Kilgore, a team captain, played all 69 snaps at center in Miami's loss to Buffalo on Sunday.
A panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community – Warrick Dunn, Pro Football Hall of Famer Curtis Martin, Karl Mecklenburg and Leonard Wheeler – will select eight finalists from the 32 nominees.
Ronald Blair, DE, San Francisco 49ers
Blair suffered a torn ACL on his highlight-worthy tackle of quarterback Russell Wilson on Monday Night Football two weeks ago and will miss the rest of the season.
San Francisco improved to 9-1 with a 36-26 win against Arizona, and 49ers teammate DeForest Buckner honored Blair by using his trademark celebration following a sack.
Sam Martin, P/KO/H, Detroit Lions
Martin put four of his six punts inside the 20, had a long punt of 57 yards and had a net average of 44.5 yards per punt in a 35-27 loss to Dallas.
Tae Hayes, CB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Hayes was inactive for the Jaguars' loss to Indianapolis.
Kendall Lamm, OL, Cleveland Browns
Because of injury, Lamm remained inactive as the Browns beat Pittsburgh. App State alum Steve Wilks is Cleveland's defensive coordinator, and the Browns held the Steelers to seven points and 236 total yards.
One other App State alum remains on a practice squad, as offensive guard Colby Gossett is also a member of the Cleveland Browns. Rookie running back
Jalin Moore is on the reserve/non-football injury list with the New York Jets as he fully recovers from a leg injury sustained during his senior season.
