COLLEGE PARK, Md.  - Appalachian State University women's soccer (1-2) suffered a 3-1 setback to Maryland (2-1) on Friday evening at Ludwig Field.
Looking to build off last weekend's win, the Mountaineers got off to a strong start in the opening period, as
Sarah Murphy notched the first goal of her career at 21' to give App the 1-0 advantage.Â
The Mountaineers held the Terrapins at bay until the score was tied up in the 33rd minute, 1-1, which would stay as the tally going into the break.
Appalachian and the hosts stayed at a 1-1 deadlock for the majority of the second period until the Terps scored in the 63rd minute to take a 2-1 edge. The Terrapins later added the third goal with six minutes left.Â
Taylor Ray played all 90 minutes in the frame with a season-high six saves.
