App State Softball Signs Pitcher Maddie Siemer

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State softball coach Shelly Hoerner is excited to announce the signing of Maddie Siemer, a transfer pitcher from Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan.

Siemer is set to join the Mountaineer pitching staff as a junior this fall. An Aurora, Colo., native, she pitched more than 150 innings in two years for the Butler Grizzlies with an overall record of 25-4. With 179 strikeouts and a career ERA below 3.00, Siemer will be a force in the circle for App State.

"We are excited to add Maddie to our pitching staff for this upcoming season," Hoerner said. "She's coming in with a winning mentality and knows how to compete at a high level. Her work ethic, strong moral character, family mentality and competitiveness will enhance our program."

In her freshman year at Butler, Siemer earned the title of 2017 NJCAA National Champion. As a sophomore, she was named first-team All-KJCCC. The Grizzlies finished third at the NJCAA National Championships during the 2018 season.

Before Butler, Siemer sat down over 400 batters in her career at Smoky Hill High School. She earned a spot on the 5A all-state senior team and was a U.S. Army Reserve Scholar Athlete her senior year. She received second-team all-centennial league honors as a freshman and sophomore and first-team all-centennial league honors as a junior and senior.

Siemer's parents are Mark and Sheila Siemer, and she has two brothers: Kyle and Cam. She plans to major in exercise science while at App State.
